Drafting and Reviewing Bills
Drafting policy ideas presented by National Assembly members into bills, and comprehensively analyzing them to support bill examination
- Bill drafting
- Efficiently drafting high-quality bills in accordance with the Constitution and the legal order of the Republic of Korea from National Assembly members’ policy ideas
- Bill examination
- Providing professional, neutral analysis of the key points, issues, and social and economic effects of bills
Deliberation on Budget Bills and Account Settlement
Comprehensively analyzing national financial projects to support budget bill deliberation and account settlement
- Deliberation on budget bills
- Analyzing necessary reductions, increases, and structural improvements to budget bills submitted by the government each September
- Deliberation on accounts settlement
- Analyzing poorly implemented projects and cases of budget waste in connection with the settlement of accounts submitted by the government each May
State Inspection and Investigation, and Personnel Hearings
Supporting the inspection and investigation of state administration and personnel hearings to enable effective oversight and monitoring of government operations
- Inspection and investigation of state administration
- Assisting with the preparation of plans and reports, submission of related documents, and meeting operations
- Personnel hearings
- Assisting with the preparation of plans and progress reports, submission of related documents, and meeting operations for personnel hearings
Parliamentary Operation (of Meetings and Proceedings)
Facilitating the smooth operation of plenary sessions and committees and ensuring the prompt processing of legislative bills
- Effective operation of plenary and committee meetings
- Supporting negotiations and consultations among parliamentary groups and vice chairpersons, assisting with the appointment and replacement of committee members, and responding to issues arising during meetings
- Procedures for processing bills
- Providing systematic support for all bill processing procedures, from receipt and committee referral to adjustment and transfer to the government
Parliamentary Diplomacy
Providing comprehensive support for all aspects of parliamentary diplomacy involving the Speaker, Deputy Speakers, parliamentary diplomacy groups, standing committee delegations, and inter-parliamentary conference delegations
- Visits by key foreign dignitaries and official visits by parliamentary leadership and members
- Systematically supporting all schedules of foreign parliaments and key figures in Korea such as courtesy calls, meetings, and company tours in close coordination with foreign countries’ officials
- Participation in and hosting of inter-parliamentary conferences
- Leading the organization of inter-parliamentary conferences such as parliamentary summits and supporting all schedules when participating in such events outside Korea, in cooperation with the host country’s officials
Other Administrative Duties
Performing administrative tasks to efficiently support legislative activities
- Efficient use of human and material resources
- Enhancing capabilities through efficient budget planning and execution, organization and staff management, personnel system operation, and employee training
- Facility and equipment management and maintenance of order
- Maintaining a pleasant environment through the systematic management of facilities and equipment, and ensuring security and order within the building to foster a safe legislative environment
