Invitation of Foreign Delegations

The Secretariat supports the Assembly members¡¯ diplomatic activities
by helping arrange official visits of foreign dignitaries to the National
Assembly, talks with Korean parliamentary or governmental officials,
and visits to industrial facilities or historic sites.

Invitations are categorized into two types: scheduled invitations
planned by the Parliamentary Diplomacy Steering Council, and
unscheduled invitations arranged when necessary.

Each arrangement is made according to the following process:

Proposal of an invitation (by Foreign Affairs Ministry, etc.) ¡æ Review of the invitation plan ¡æ Approval of National Assembly Speaker ¡æ Mailing of the invitation letter ¡æ Determination of detailed schedule, number of delegates, costs (in consultation with Foreign Affairs Ministry or an embassy) ¡æ Final confirmation of the invitation

An invitation is extended when
parliament-level exchange is called for;
it is proposed by a Parliamentary Friendship Group;
it is proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or a diplomatic office; or
another parliament officially requests a visit.
