- Speaker calls on National Assembly to make efforts to become a beacon of hope for society
The Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo lit the Christmas tree installed at National Assembly Square on December 6 after attending a year-end thanksgiving service at the National Assembly Members’ Building.
In his celebratory speech, Speaker Kim called for the National Assembly to make efforts to become a beacon of hope for society, saying: “With the lighting of this Christmas tree today, I hope the National Assembly will have the opportunity to better care for its marginalized neighbors.”
Attendees at the lighting event included the Rev. Kim Sam-hwan (founder and former Head Pastor of Myung Sung Presbyterian Church) and Rev. Jang Heon-il (coaching member of the National Assembly Prayer Breakfast), along with National Assembly Prayer Breakfast members Lee Che-ik, Kim Hoi-jae, Song Seog-jun, Suh Jung-sook, Chung Il-young, Choe Jae-hyeong, and Kang Sun-woo.
