BACKGROUND

The Plenary Chamber of the National Assembly functions as a venue for
public opinion and the representative decision-making body of the people.
Now, the digitalized National Assembly Plenary Chamber will open a new era of
ubiquitous politics that informs the public on the political process wherever and
whenever they are. An electronic democracy will also be realized here at the
National Assembly of the Republic of Korea through omni-directional monitoring
and communication. Furthermore, the National Assembly of the Republic Korea will
strive for better public service and public access by encouraging citizen
participation via the Internet and also introduce Digitalized Standing
Committee Meetings.
In addition, the digitalized system of the Korean National Assembly Plenary
Chamber can be applied and adopted not only to inter-parliamentary conferences
but also to UN international conferences and other types of conventions.
